7 Day Uluru to Adelaide Swag Camping Tour Itinerary
Want to get all the way from Uluru to Adelaide but don’t have weeks to spend? This 7 day tour is what you need! You’ll be exploring Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park, Kings Canyon, and Coober Pedy before making your way toward South Australia to discover Flinders Ranges. For the real Aussie experience, you’ll be sleeping under the stars in your own Aussie swag.
Day One (dinner)
Your tour starts in sacred Uluru before exploring the Cultural Centre in Uluru – Kata Tjuta NP where you’ll be introduced to the Anangu culture. We’ll explore their beautiful land while learning more about the history of this area. Then it’s on to our camp. We’ll enjoy dinner, get to know your tour guide & other travellers better, and set up our beds for the next two nights.
Day Two (breakfast)
We’ll get up early today and enjoy a magical sunrise over Uluru. We won’t just be gazing at Uluru from afar, but also get up close! First walk of the day is the 2.6km Walpa Gorge walk, surrounded by the incredible rock formations of Kata Tjuta. After some downtime at camp over lunch, we’ll do the famous 10 km walk around the base of Uluru. Take in the beautiful art, learn more about the dream stories, and enjoy the refreshing water of the waterholes that Uluru is rich in. Later on, we head back to our camp to relax in the pool or check out on of the resort’s activities.
Day Three (breakfast & lunch)
Today we’ll be exploring Kata Tjuta first, and then head out to the beautiful Watarrka National Park and Kings Canyon. Once at the canyon, we will do the famous 3hr rim walk. Take in the 300 metre sandstone walls, waterholes and Priscilla’s Creek. Finally, we travel to Kings Creek Station, which will be our campsite for tonight.
Day Four (breakfast)
We’ll cross the border from the NT to South Australia and travel to Coober Pedy. This town is mainly built underground because of the high temperatures (it can get up to 50 degrees in summer!). Tonight our accommodation is completely different! From sleeping in a swag in the warm air we’ll be sleeping in a hostel (bunk share dormitory) underground. This way, you’ll experience how the locals live now and back in time.
Day Five (breakfast & dinner)
Day 5 is all about Coober Pedy, where you’ll learn more about the history. Try mine your own opal, or in other words ‘noodling’, at the Old Timers Mine. In the afternoon it’s time to hit the road again and make our way to Warren Gorge at the heart of the Ikara-Flinders Ranges. We’ll enjoy a tasty campsite dinner and then crawl into our swag for another nice night under the stars.
Day Six (breakfast & dinner)
Start the day with a morning hike up the Warren Gorge Trail before heading to the small outback town of Hawker. Relax for lunch, or check out the Jeff Morgan Gallery. Another afternoon hike, this time to enjoy panoramic views over Wilpena Pound from the Wangara Lookout. Finally, head to camp and set up for your final night with the Milky Way.
Day Seven (breakfast)
On the final day of our fun and fantastic journey from Uluru to Adelaide, we’ll be visiting Arkaroo Rock Trail of the Adnyamathanha people and visit the historic town of Quorn. Are you a wine lover? Then you’ll love our drive back to Adelaide, as we travel through the wine region Clare Valley. Maybe after your tour, you can check out some of its wineries! We’ll be back around 6:30pm and you can go straight to your accommodation or continue your trip.
